Favorite Part: Ease of Communication
Jimmy did what he said he was going to do, when he said he was going to do it. He stuck to the schedule for us. Very competent and professional. My favorite part was the ease of communications with him. We could email, call or just even text, and he always got back to us very quickly and got our questions answered. He stuck to the pricing he quoted upfront, and did not add on. We were very satisfied with our completed project, We would recommend Budingen Architecture.

I Can’t Believe We Didn’t Call Sooner
My wife and I contracted with Budingen (Jimmy) to design the plans for our new home. Since we weren't able to meet in person due to COVID, Jimmy quickly pivoted to Zoom meetings to introduce himself and walk us through the process; everything was done remotely and Jimmy was able to share his screen along the way so we could see the build unfold before our eyes. After a very detailed survey and a meeting with us to discuss what we had in mind, Jimmy was very quickly able to put together a rough idea of what he thought we might like. He was right on from the beginning.
Every step of the way, Jimmy was quick to answer any question we had (of which there were many as this is our first home build), discuss the pros and cons of specific details and materials we had in mind, and make suggestions on how to turn our ideas into a reality.
Finally, as good of an architect Jimmy is (and he is a very good architect) I think he's a better person; it was obvious that he was really very concerned with my wife and I's satisfaction with the end product and never was anything but polite and professional.
When my wife and I were thinking about whether or not to hire an architect to design our home, we were concerned that it would be more expensive than we could afford, since we are building a relatively modest home (about 3,000 square feet). We looked at plan after plan on the internet and finally decided we at least needed to meet with an architect to see if it was in our budget and if there was really enough benefit that it was worth it to spend the additional money for a custom home design. In the end, the design of our home will likely be around 1% of our home build, and for the difference in price between an off-the-shelf plan from the internet vs. what we received by working with Jimmy and Budingen, I can't believe we didn't call him sooner. Cannot recommend Budingen highly enough!

Most Helpful and Easy to Work With
I found Jimmy O’Loughlin most helpful and easy to work with, professional and responsive. He addressed all my concerns and suggestions. He included some of them, and, those that he did not, he explained why and offered alternatives. He accepted my second thoughts gracefully and included them in the drawings. The final design and drawings were what I wanted, and I would recommend him highly to those who do not know him and his work.
Total Pleasant Experience
Total pleasant experience. Jimmy had the patience required to get our ideas and desires into the final plan. Having built five houses and remodeled two previously, we had a great deal of experience in all phases of the planning and can say we never had a better time. Jimmy seemed to know what we needed in spite of our sometimes confusing attempts to convey it. We also greatly appreciated his ideas and knowledge of current trends.
Creativity Out of This World
I couldn’t be happier with the experience. Many say after the building process what a nightmare it is but we had no complaints. And any small adjustments we needed after it was completed was taken seriously and addressed with no issue. His creativity is out of this world and Jimmy is a person I would trust to the end of the earth which my husband and I find extremely important.
Listened Carefully to Ideas
I hired Jimmy to remodel my kitchen. I had ideas that required significant changes in the layout and function of the kitchen. Jimmy listened carefully to my ideas and worked hard to make them happen. He let me know if something wouldn't work and suggested an alternative. When there was a problem with a subcontractor, Jimmy went to bat for me and the problem was resolved beautifully.
Very Responsive
I had a great experience working with Jimmy on my project. Communication was key. It was always so easy to talk to Jimmy about any aspect of the project and he was also very responsive to any questions or changes we had during the process.
He Is Brilliant
He is brilliant. He was able to use the space in ways I never thought they could be. Best of all, he was very open when I asked for things to be tweaked or changed. He worked with me to the end of the project and I couldn't be more pleased.
Thorough Job Overseeing the Completion
We hired Mr. O’Loughlin to create remodeled designs of our home. The house was lacking storage space and needed a kitchen remodel. Mr. O'Loughlin drew several designs of our home with recreated space and additional space. During an appointment with Mr. O'Loughlin, we discussed and viewed the designs/plans via computer. Through email, we sent him our final decision. Billing was always done in a timely manner. After the completion of the project, Mr. O'Loughlin made sure that all loose ends were addressed. He did a thorough job overseeing the completion of this project.
